Airport networking app

Find the people you already know, at your gate

apreet is an airport networking app that surfaces which of your friends, colleagues, and contacts will be flying through the same airport, on the same day, as you. Layovers become coffee. Long connections become catch-ups. The hub becomes useful, not just unavoidable.

A traveler at an airport gate checking her phone, an aircraft at the window behind her

Quick answer. An airport networking app shows you which people you already know are passing through the same airport at the same time. apreet does this by reading flight events from your calendar, determining departure and arrival airports, and overlaying that against other apreet users in your address book.

The frequent-flyer math

If you fly through a major hub more than twice a month, you almost certainly cross paths with people you know, without ever realizing it. Two of your former colleagues live in the city, three more have a layover that overlaps with yours, an old client is on the same connecting flight. None of you knows the others are there.

The hub is one of the densest, lowest-friction networking opportunities you have. It is also the most consistently wasted.

How apreet does airport networking

In short, apreet reads the airports off your flight events and overlays them against the people in your address book, so you each see when you land in the same terminal on the same day. See the full breakdown on how apreet works.

What the app does not do

apreet is not a "discover strangers near me" tool. It does not broadcast your live location publicly, does not show you people you've never been in contact with, and does not turn the airport into a swiping app. It is a layer on top of the people you already know.

Use cases

What an airport networking app turns into

Long layovers

Three hours in a hub. Someone you used to work with is between flights too. A coffee, a catch-up, a 45-minute conversation that beats the lounge.

Same-flight discovery

You are on the same connection as a customer or contact. Knowing that beforehand turns a 10-hour flight into an excellent meeting environment.

Shared cabs into town

You are landing in the destination city around the same time as someone you know. Shared cab, 30 minutes of catching up, both bills lower.

Pre-flight breakfast

Two of you fly out from the same hub on early-morning flights. Airport breakfast at 6 AM before the world wakes up, the best meeting time of the day.

Conference fly-ins

Half the conference is funneling through the same airport between Sunday and Monday. apreet surfaces which of your contacts are arriving when.

Returning home

You land at your home hub. So does a friend you haven't seen in a year. A wave by the carousel beats yet another LinkedIn DM.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an airport networking app?

An airport networking app shows you which people you already know are flying through the same airport at the same time, so you can arrange a coffee, a gate-side meet-up, or a shared ride into town instead of spending the layover alone.

How does apreet identify airport overlaps?

apreet builds a four-week itinerary from your calendar. For flights, it determines the airport of departure and arrival from the title and location of the calendar event. When a contact also uses apreet, both itineraries are overlaid and overlapping airport legs are surfaced.

Will apreet show me strangers at the airport?

No. apreet is not a stranger-discovery tool. It only shows people you already know and have contact context with, like friends, colleagues, customers, and partners, and only when you've matched as friends in apreet.
