What you need first
- An apreet account with the data you want to ask about already connected. The assistant reads what apreet already knows, and does not set apreet up for you. Trip questions need your calendar. Questions about who you know need your address book. Asking who you already know at a destination needs both.
- An assistant that supports custom connectors. Claude and ChatGPT are the two we have confirmed; because the Gateway uses an open standard, others that support it may work too, and we cannot list every one in advance.
- A computer. Adding a connector is done on the desktop or web version of the assistant, not from an AI app on your phone.

Connecting
- Open your assistant's connector settings. In both Claude and ChatGPT this is where you add a custom or remote connector. The exact wording differs between them, both change their menus from time to time, and availability can depend on your plan or on an administrator enabling it.
- Add a custom connector and paste the address above. Nothing else needs configuring. There is no key to generate and no file to edit.
- Approve the connection on apreet. You are sent to apreet to sign in and approve what the assistant may read. This screen is apreet's, not the assistant's, which is the point: the assistant asks, you decide.
- Grant only what you want. Permission is split into separate categories rather than being all-or-nothing, and every one of them is a read permission. Grant the ones that match what you actually plan to ask about.
- Go back and ask something. Try "what trips do I have next week?" or "who do I already know in Berlin?"
If the assistant answers with your real destinations, it is connected.
What to ask first
Two questions are worth trying immediately, because they are the ones apreet is actually built to answer.
- "What trips do I have coming up?" Your real itinerary, read from your calendar.
- "Who do I already know in [city]?" The people in your address book whose home or work address is in that city.
Matching happens at city level. apreet does not measure distance, so an answer means the same city, not the same neighbourhood.
Disconnecting
There are two separate things, and doing only the first is not enough.
- Remove the connector in the assistant. This stops that assistant offering apreet as a tool.
- Revoke apreet's authorisation, in the apreet app. This is the one that matters: it stops the assistant being able to read anything, whether or not the connector entry is still listed. Removing the connector alone does not do it.
If it does not work
The most common causes, in the order worth checking:
- You are on a phone. Adding a connector needs the desktop or web version.
- Your assistant does not support custom connectors. Claude and ChatGPT are the two we have confirmed. Others built on the same open standard may work, but we have not tested them and cannot promise they will.
- You did not finish the approval step. If you closed the apreet screen before approving, the connector exists but has no permission. Remove it and add it again.
- apreet itself has nothing to read for that question. Trip questions need your calendar connected in the app; questions about who you know need your address book. An empty answer can mean the source is missing rather than that nobody matched.
Before you connect
Connecting sends the apreet data you approved to the assistant, which means to Anthropic or to OpenAI, where their own terms apply. That is worth understanding rather than discovering later. Read what an assistant can and cannot do first.
