Comparison

apreet vs TripIt and Tripsy: your bookings, plus the people near them

TripIt and Tripsy are excellent at organising your bookings. apreet does something else: it shows which people you already know are near each trip. This is a fair look at all three, and at how they fit together.

Quick answer. TripIt and Tripsy turn your confirmation emails into one tidy itinerary. apreet reads the trips in your calendar and places the people in your address book next to each destination. They answer what is booked. apreet answers who you can meet there.

Is there an app that checks my business trips against my contacts' travel plans?

Yes. apreet reads the trips in your calendar and places the people in your address book next to each destination. These are private destination suggestions, and your contacts do not need apreet. A mutual itinerary match needs you both on apreet, trips that overlap in time and place, and each other's numbers on both phones.

What TripIt is best at

TripIt builds one itinerary from the confirmation emails you forward to it. It syncs that itinerary to your calendar and lets you share a trip with the people you choose. TripIt Pro adds real-time flight alerts and Inner Circle, which shares every trip automatically with people you trust. TripIt has been part of SAP Concur since 2014 and runs on iPhone, Android and the web.

What Tripsy is best at

Tripsy is a polished trip planner for Apple devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. Forward a reservation email and it builds the trip, with flights, stays, activities, expenses and documents in one place. You can invite people to edit a trip or only to view it. There is no native Android app yet.

What apreet does differently

TripIt and Tripsy are about your bookings and the people you choose to share them with. apreet is about the people already in your address book. There is nothing to forward: it reads the titles, times and locations of your calendar events. It shows who you know near each destination, even if they never use apreet. It also spots the conferences in your calendar and shows which contacts on apreet confirmed they are going.
