Your address book stays yours.

apreet uses just enough of your contacts to do its job, and deliberately ignores the rest. Here's what that actually means.

Quick version. apreet processes your contacts' phone numbers, email addresses, and the city portion of their address. It uses that to match you with apreet friends, and to surface contacts near your destinations. apreet does not read your contact notes, does not write to your address book, and does not share your contacts with third parties.

What apreet uses

  • Phone numbers and emails, to identify which of your contacts are also apreet users (and only those, with mutual consent, are matched as friends).
  • City / location field, to map each non-apreet contact to a place, so you can see who's near your destinations.
  • Names, so you actually know who you are seeing.

What apreet ignores, on purpose

  • Notes section, never read, never transmitted. Whatever private context you keep there stays private.
  • Custom fields, photos, social profiles, anniversaries, apreet does not need them and does not access them.

What apreet never does

  • Writes to your address book. apreet never adds, edits, or deletes contacts.
  • Shares contact data with third parties. Your address book is processed internally for matching only.
  • Markets to your contacts. No "find your friends" mass invites. No spam.

How matching works in practice

If a phone number in your address book is associated with an apreet user, and your number is in their address book, apreet treats you as friends and overlays itineraries. For everyone else, apreet uses the city in their address record to map them onto your travel destinations.

You confirm, in the Terms of Service, that you are authorized to provide us with the phone numbers and addresses of your contacts.

Permissions and control

You grant apreet contact access via your device's permission prompt. You can revoke it at any time in your device settings. You can also delete your apreet account and all associated personal data from inside the app: Menu → My Profile → Delete Account. Or email our support team.
